HPI
HPI: A 63-year-old male calls EMS after a syncopal episode. He is found to be alert, but complaining of chest pain that radiates bilaterally and that is associated with diaphoresis. The following ECG is obtained on arrival (ECG 1), and a repeat ECG is obtained after the patient has worsening chest pain at the scene (ECG 2). He presents to the hospital in cardiac arrest.
Before watching this week's video, ask yourself these questions:
- What ECG abnormalities do you notice?
- What is your differential diagnosis, and suspected cause of his cardiac arrest?
- Is it possible to diagnose STEMI in patients with paced rhythms?
